The
Davis Art Center incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1961 for
the purpose of furthering the execution and appreciation of the creative
and interpretive arts within the community and surrounding region.
Goals of the Davis Art Center are to provide support, opportunities and
a meeting place for artists in all fields; to provide children and adults
with professionally supervised art classes and workshops; and to present
collaborative programs that provide a broad range of artistic and multi-cultural
experiences.
The Davis Art Center currently offers over 200 classes each quarter in
drawing, painting, ceramics, weaving, handknitting, photography, dance,
drama, music, creative-writing, storytelling, martial arts and yoga. Additional
weekend workshops are offered throughout the year in more diverse subjects
such as Japanese fish printing, bronze casting, silk painting and book
making.
The Davis Art Center Gallery features contemporary artwork from local,
regional and internationally recognized artists throughout the year. The
DAC Gallery presents approximately eight exhibits per year in a variety
of media. Admission is always free.
Serving over 50,000 people a year in a vast array of art related classes
and programs, the Davis Art Center is a vital part of the cultural well
being of the region.
